EMPOWERING MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

TO HEAL AND TRANSFORM TRAUMA WITH MINDFULNESS

Transforming mental health professionals with culturally-responsive, evidence-based mindfulness training to cultivate equitable outcomes for underserved communities.

WHAT WE’RE FACING

Mental health professionals go above and beyond to support the well-being of their clients. This dedication, however, can come at a cost. Providers are overextended, under-resourced, and inadequately prepared to address the complexities of their patients’ suffering (let alone their own!).

We believe that mental health is a right, not a privilege.

With the right tools and training, it is possible to establish sustainable care even in some of the most stressful situations. We know because we’ve done it. For over 20 years, we’ve been supporting communities with mindfulness-based interventions that adapt to the cultural, professional, and socioeconomic nuances of their environment. Together, we can heal from the inside out.

Mental Health Trainings

Healing Minds FUNDAMENTALS

Our Healing Minds fundamental program offers professional training for mental health professionals to cultivate long-term, sustainable mental wellness.

Based on two decades of experience working with underserved populations, we know that transformation can be challenging, yet is entirely possible when the right tools are in place. We begin with the foundations of mindfulness to help clinicians develop practical tools and techniques to care for themselves personally and professionally. Then, in the second phase, participants learn to deliver trauma-informed mindfulness interventions with their clients.

Our culturally responsive approach examines the developmental, vicarious, and systemic forms of trauma impacting both mental health staff and their clients on a daily basis. We utilize the frameworks of developmental trauma disorder (DTD), Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to understand the root causes of trauma, and coach participants through practical, mindfulness-based techniques to respond with a combination of compassion and skill.

Healing MINDS ADVANCED

TESTIMONIALS

“MBA supported what our clinical case managers were doing in helping folks get back on their feet. It supported the clients and their work, and all the other programmatic aspects we had. It just aligned really well with the work we’re doing.”

—Clinician, Youth and Family Services, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office

The work that MBA did with [our re-entry clients] helped give them more coping skills, de-escalation skills, and gave them a whole new perspective on the work we do, but also their own personal work and growth. [Before MBA] nobody had ever helped walk alongside them and helped to support their journey.

—Kelly Glossup LCSW, Manager, Youth and Family Services, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office

[Mindfulness] is a skillset that some clients and clinicians aren’t taught. The work MBA did helped support my staff (of clinicians) in gaining some of those skills in their work. It grounded them and reinforced why we do the work we do.
